As a kid, John’s dream was to grow up to write and produce radio dramas. Only one problem: They all died in the 1960s. Fast forward to 1997: John joined the writing team for Adventures in Odyssey, America’s favorite family audio drama. Later, he directed such talented actors as Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings, Rudy, Stranger Things) John Rhys-Davies (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Lord of the Rings), Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey) and Anthony Daniels (Star Wars) and hundreds of other very talented actors.
John has worked as a writer, director, and producer on 17 different audio drama franchises including Jonathan Park, Unshackled! and The Adventum. He helped launch 10 audio dramas, including Lamplighter Theatre, The Last Chance Detectives, and The Extraordinary Adventures of G.A. Henty.
He’s acted in many productions including The Adventum (Aaron), Heart Matters (The Big Bad Wolf), and Skyship Dreamer (Captain Thaddeus Kadiddle).
The producer of two Emmy-Award winning documentaries, he also directed three award-winning short films, and authored books with Tyndale, Zondervan, and Focus on the Family.
John’s passion is to help launch Next Generation Creatives, teaching numerous workshops and seminars around the country and online.
With his impressive roster of high-profile projects and clients, and a long list of credits encompassing a great diversity of musical styles spanning over 25 successful years, John Campbell is fulfilling a dream that began at a very young age.
“I literally grew up in music,” recalls John. His father, a beloved music teacher in Southern California, played organ and piano at his family’s church and held “summer music classes” for John and his sister.
In time, the producer of Adventures in Odyssey invited John to compose the theme and score for each half-hour episode. Over 25 years later John still creates music for the show. John honed his skills for writing music for animated shows such as Where on Earth is Carmen San Diego (Fox), and Higglytown Heroes (Disney), among many others.
He composed music for Lamplighter Theatre, Paws & Tales, Down Gilead Lane, The Extraordinary Adventures of GA Henty, the Father Gilbert Mysteries and The Ark Encounter.
John wrote scores for television and films, and composed the theme and many of the scores for Focus On The Family’s award-winning Radio Theatre productions, including the highly-acclaimed Chronicles of Narnia series.
Todd is not only a well-accomplished Sound Designer, Director, and Producer, he’s an enthusiastic audio drama aficionado. From his beautiful studios at GAP Digital in Chicago, Todd has worked on such shows as The Left Behind Audio Series, Adventures in Odyssey, Lamplighter Theatre, The Extraordinary Adventures of GA Henty, Veggie Tales, and many more.
